Why in News?

  • On 26 May 2026, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment launched the PM-AJAY Portal and AJAY Mobile App to strengthen and digitize the implementation of welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes (SCs).
OBJECTIVE OF THE INITIATIVE The initiative aims to:
  • Shift from paper-based workflow to end-to-end digital processing
  • Enable real-time monitoring
  • Improve transparent governance
  • Ensure milestone-linked fund flow
  • Strengthen field-level implementation and reporting

ABOUT PM AJAY SCHEME

  • The Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojna (PM-AJAY) is implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment for the socio-economic development of SC communities.
