UP-PSCPCS Exam Eligibility Criteria & Syllabus

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, or UPPSC, is in charge of organizing several kinds of state-level civil service exams in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Aspirants who have a desire to attempt the examination must first examine whether they are eligible for it or not. The UPPSC exam eligibility criteria are determined in terms of the applicant's age limit, nationality, physical standards, and credentials. Any applicant who does not satisfy the eligibility standards is disqualified to take the exam. The precise qualifying requirements given in the official announcement should be examined by those who are interested.

  • To be eligible for UPPSC, Applicants must be citizens of India, Nepal, or Bhutan, or have come to India as a refugee from Tibet before to January 1, 1962.
  • The applicant must be between the ages of 21 and 40 in order to apply for the test.
  • Applicants must be physically qualified for the post for which they are seeking.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an approved university or other institution is needed of applicants.
  • Students must also be conversant in the Hindi language.
The qualifying requirements for the UP-PCS Examination are as follows:
Nationality Aspirants should be an Indian national only.
Age Limit Lower limit is 21 and 40 is upper limit.
Educational Candidates also should hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized
Qualification university. It is important to note that depending on the occupation there may be certain requirements for certification.
Physical Standards There may some conditions attached with certain jobs such as physical fitness and other measures.
Domicile As per the practical criteria anyone seeking the quota benefits must be a domicile of Uttar Pradesh.
Reservation The general reservation policy for the UP PCS exam ensures that groups that somehow are marginalized in society are given the chance to take the exam and there is equal representation of the categories in the services.

A. Nationality: Any candidate who wants to register for the examination must be a citizen of India. Those who are not established in India and do not have necessary papers that prove they are Indians, will not be permitted to register for the test and make attempts it.

B. Educational Qualification: As examination authorities provide several employment opportunities, every post needs a particular degree of competence. This implies that various employment positions have varied certification requirements. However, some general credentials that are necessary for UPPSC include-

  • The candidate must gain a bachelor's degree from authorized educational institutions that has received state or central government approval and must be relevant to the requested position.
  • For particular positions applicants must have additional credentials in the form of a certificate or master's degree. For example, to be a Prosecuting Officer, the candidate must have a legitimate degree in law.
  • Candidates may also apply for the examination if they are in their last academic year or are awaiting the release of the results. Nonetheless, they have to provide their previous semester's grade assessment.

C. Physical Standards: For specific positions, physical criteria will apply in line with service rules or regulations imposed by UPPSC. Some of the employment postings that would need applicants to achieve the required physical criteria include-

D. Age Limit:The exam administrators have established an upper and a lower age restriction in order to be eligible for the examination. It is crucial that candidates fall under this set age restriction or else they will be exempted from taking the test.

Note: In order to be eligible for the age relaxation provision, candidates must have the domicile of UP. Moreover, The category certificate from the competent authorities must be presented by the applicant seeking a seat reservation or/and age relaxation.

UPPSC Exam Syllabus (Prelims & Mains)

The UPPSC Utter Pradesh Public service Commission’s PCS exam is a state civil service commission exam through which the state selects group A and group B officers. The test is performed in three stages: i.e. Prelims, mains examination, and Interview:

  • Prelims: It consists of two papers namely, General Studies I and General Studies II – CSAT, each with a maximum of 200 marks.
  • Mains:in UPPSC mains examination there are mainly eight descriptive papers these aresix General Studies papers, Essay paper, and General Hindi.
  • Interview: The final test is an interview worth 100 marks aimed at assessing the subject’s personality and compatibility with a public servant’s career.

This examination design is particularly aimed at evaluating a candidate’s content knowledge, analytical skills, and understanding of many disciplines with special reference to the State of Uttar Pradesh.

Prelims Syllabus

General studies Paper-I

  • Current events of national and international importance.
  • History of India and Indian National Movement: In History emphasis should be on broad understanding social, economic and political aspects of Indian History. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have synoptic view of nature and character of the freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence.
  • India and World geography-Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World: In World Geography only general understanding of the subject will be expected. Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.
  • Indian Polity and governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc: In Indian Polity, Economic and Culture, questions will test knowledge of country's political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development, broad features of Economic policy in India and Indian Culture.
  • Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.: The candidates will be tested with respect to problems and relationship between Population, Environment and Urbanisation. General Issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization, General awareness of the subject is expected from candidates.
  • General Issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change- that do not require subject specialization.
  • General Science:- Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science including matters of every day observation and experience, as may be expected of a well-educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
  • Current events of national and international Importance:- On Current Events of National and International Importance, candidates will be expected to have knowledge about them.

ESSAY

There will be three sections in the question paper of Essay. Candidates will have to select one topic from each section and they are required to write essay in 700 words on each topic. In the three sections, topics of essay will be based on following sphere:
