ABOUT NCM

Tenure Under Section 4(1) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Members hold office for three years from the date they assume office or until further orders. NOTIFIED MINORITY COMMITTEES IN INDIA The Central Government has notified the following six religious communities as minorities under the NCM Act:

FUNCTIONS The Commission is mandated to:

  • Although the National Commission for Minorities is not a constitutional body, it derives its authority from the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
